At Skin Architect, our practitioners are highly experienced in managing aesthetic concerns and complications. We use hyaluronidase to safely dissolve unwanted dermal filler, whether due to lumps, uneven texture or filler migration to surrounding areas. This treatment allows us to correct previous results and restore a more natural appearance.
Dermal filler dissolving is carried out by injecting hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid-based fillers safely and effectively. The procedure is quick, performed under medical supervision, and results are often noticeable within one to two days.
This treatment may be suitable for individuals who:
• Have filler that has migrated or appears uneven
• Wish to reverse or remove previous filler results
• Are experiencing issues such as lumps or other complications

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can be injected to dissolve dermal filler and is the best treatment option for those looking at dissolving lip filler and reducing any lumps or puffiness associated with dermal filler in the face or body.
Hyaluronidase is a medicine that should only be administered by a doctor skilled in its use, only in a clinical environment, and only after a consultation and a test patch as there is a risk of serious allergic reaction.
Hyaluronidase dissolves some hyaluronic acid dermal filler immediately and continues to work for up to 7 days.
Yes, but you should wait 14 days after your treatment as the hyaluronidase can break down the new dermal filler. If you wish to do this, we can offer you the dermal re-fill treatment at a discounted price. This is something the majority of clients choose to do.
If you have had dermal filler it is recommended not to dissolve it for cosmetic reasons for 14 days after the initial treatment, as you are unlikely you will have seen the final result due to swelling.
Where vascular compromise arises after dermal filler treatment, Hyaluronidase can be administered immediately, and should not be delayed.
The most significant side-effect of hyaluronidase is an allergic reaction, which can vary in severity.
Other side effects include:
• Discomfort at time of injection
• Swelling
• Bruising
• Infection
• Triggering cold sores if used to dissolve filler around the mouth area
• Dissolving naturally occurring hyaluronic acid
• Uneven appearance following treatment
• Multiple treatments may be required depending on the amount, type and location of dermal filler to be dissolved.
Hyaluronidase is not suitable if you have a history of serious allergy e.g. anaphylaxis response to an allergen or you are allergic to bee or insect stings.
For your peace of mind, we will ask to test your response to Hyaluronidase on a small area. This will immediately reveal if you have a reaction that would make Hyaluronidase unsuitable for you.
